South Yemeni American Community Meets with Congressman Kennedy’s Office in Buffalo

On 28 May 2024, South Yemeni American community leaders met with Congressman Tim Kennedy’s office in Buffalo, NY. The meeting aimed to bridge connections between South Yemeni Americans and U.S. policymakers, focusing on the conflict in Yemen and key concerns of the diaspora.

Community representatives urged the U.S. to boost diplomatic and humanitarian efforts and increase aid to Southern Yemen. They emphasized the ongoing humanitarian crisis and the need to safeguard vital shipping routes from Houthi aggression. Additionally, they advocated for reopening the U.S. Consulate in Aden to provide much-needed assistance with document processing, eliminating the inconvenience of Yemeni Americans having to travel to Djibouti or Egypt for passport renewals or visa processing.

Congressman Kennedy’s office expressed support for continued dialogue and collaboration.
